Memorable Dates for Swilly Seals club:

Swilly Seals Swimming Club was formed in 1985. Mitzi Gala 13th Dec 1986, Swilly Seals vs. Oriel (Monaghan) in Letterkenny Leisure Centre.

Formal training was suspended from 1988 - 1990 due to closure of Letterkenny Leisure Centre.

Weekend visit to Letterkenny by Leander Swimming Club, Belfast for gala on 7th March, 1992. Leander swimmers and officials stayed in the homes of Swilly Seals swimmers and officials.

1992/1993: Swilly Seals first season in Provincial Towns competition. The Seals finished second to City of Derry in Division 3, and narrowly failed to get promoted to Division 2.

1993: New Ulster Grammar Schools record in 50m Freestyle set by club member Liam McMenamin, who is also ranked 5th in Ireland for his age in 100m IM.

August 1993: Relay teams of Swilly Seals members won Gold (Girls) and Bronze (Boys) in the Community Games Finals in Mosney.

10th June 1995: Gala in Letterkenny against Leander.

Swilly Seals Swimmers participated in training in Tenerife having been selected in the schools competioion: Damian McAteer (1999), Laura Harvey (2000 and 2001), Aine McBride (2002), Dairine Rushe (2003).

2001 and 2002: Loreto Letterkenny win national Loreto swimming competition with all Swilly Seals swimmers.

August 2006: Letterkenny East boys relay team win Gold in the Community Games Finals in the National Aquatic Centre. All (Sean O'Donnell, Richard Curran, Michael Boyce, Oisin McElhinney and Mark Foy) are members of Swilly Seals.

August 2007: They do it again! Letterkenny East boys relay team win Gold in the Community Games Finals in the National Aquatic Centre. All (Sean O'Donnell, Mark Foy, Michael Boyce, Oisin McElhinney and Rory Boyce) are members of Swilly Seals.
